AQUASCUTUM HISTORY:

John Emary started as a Mayfair tailor in 1851, building his business on fine craftsmanship and technical innovation. This has remained at the forefront of the brand. Emary created the first waterproof textile, this development inspired the brand name which translates as 'water shield' from latin. Promoted by King Edward VII , he was the first royal to request a custom made trench coat. The royal warrant followed in 1897. After the development of the trench coat, it was used by the British military during both World Wars. Another creation in '53, the Wyncol fabric was used by explorer Edmund Hilary on his ascent of Mount Everest. The Aqua Five was hailed as the 'greatest technical advance in rainwear', securing the brand's place within the textile industry.
