Baracuta was founded in the 1930’s by John Miller, in Manchester UK. In its day the name Baracuta was described as “Britain’s Best Rainwear”. In 1937 Baracuta designed the G9 jacket commonly known as the Harrington. During the 1950’s the brand expanded into the USA.
Elvis Presley wore the Baracuta jacket in the film King Creole. This gave the Harrington iconic status and became a firm favourite with the fashion celebrities in the states. Baracuta rose again in the early 80’s with the Harrington being sought after by Punks & the mod revival from the 60’s.
For Spring 2010 there is a British flavour amongst the new trends for this season, and of course Baracuta is a must have! Indie bands have picked up on this and the likes of Pete Doherty & Razorlight can be seen supporting the Baracuta brand.
