A bit more about Paul Smith - PS

Sir Paul Smith was knighted by the Queen in 2000 after 3 decades as a menswear icon. Paul Smith came from Nottingham and as a young lad his first passion was sports particularly cycling, after a terrible accident that put him in hospital for some time, which ended his cycling days, it was then Paul Smith's career in fashion design began.

Paul Smith started taking evening classes for tailoring later moving to Savile Row and was spotted by Harold Tillman. His early designs were worn by the celebrity footballer George Best amongst others.
With a small amount of savings Paul Smith opened his first shop at 10 Byard lane Nottingham in 1970. By 1976 Paul Smith showed his first collection in Paris under the Paul Smith Label and the rest is history.

Today the brand Paul Smith has many labels under the Paul Smith banner Paul Smith Jeans, PS by Paul Smith, Paul Smith London plus a womenswear and childrens collections have all established themselves in their own sectors. In total there are 12 different collections by Paul Smith.

Paul Smith has stores worldwide recently opening in Los Angeles and Dubai, Sir Paul Smith is still to this day fully involved in the day to day running of the business he has even found time working to design the London 2012 Olympic Posters and Signs.
