G.H. BASS was formed in 1936 by George Henry Bass, a bootmaker from Wilton in Maine, USA. He began making a penny loafer modelled on the popular footwear of the time worn by farmers and fishermen in Norway, Weejuns were born. Many celebrities have worn Bass Weejun penny loafers over the years including James Dean and JF Kennedy. In recent times we have seen the rise of the loafer again complimenting a preppy Ivy League look for today’s fashion conscious male. Classic and understated, Bass Weejuns have become a designer shoe of choice for customers at John Anthony.
