Founded by Japanese born designer Kenzo Takada in 1970, Kenzo brought together difference influences for a 'West meets East' collection. In '83 he launched his first menswear collection, which continues to be one of the most anticipated runway appearances. The Kenzo name grew beyond it's fashion origin to include a highly successful fragrance range. Under Takada's leadership, the collections were full of colour and bold fun prints. The floral prints and ethnic vibe were it's signature look. At the age of 60 Takada annouced his retirement. In 2011 Opening Ceremony founders Carol Lim and Humberto Lean took over as CEOs, resurecting a sleepy 80s brand with a new look and that ultimate 'cool factor'. Their Kenzo tiger sweatshirt was an instant hit and never lasted more than a few hours in stores upon delivery. Under their leadship Kenzo has become one of the biggest names in mens fashion.
